Take Off
Make it stand out
Really enjoy painting these Monarchs, they are helping me get used to the layering required with Watercolour paints.
Second watercolour painting for my new collection featuring Monarch Butterflies.
‘Take off’
Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus) self-introduced to New Zealand in the mid-19th century. They are famous for their bright orange and black wings, and their survival depends heavily on the introduced swan plant (Gomphocarpus physocarpus), which acts as the primary food source for their caterpillars.
Watercolour painting with acrylic pen highlights for the white on the wings. Will be framed in an 8x8 inch frame.
One of a set of four paintings in this collection.
