POP ART

Artwork to brighten your day. I am currently working on two different Pop Art collections. I will likely expand this into more collections in the near future.

  1. African Animals

  2. New Zealand Icons

Samson the Lion

First attempt at Pop Art. I saw a number of versions of this lion, and this is my interpretation.

‘Samson’

Acrylic paint on wooden board. 40cm x 40cm

Pop Art is known for using Bold Colors & Techniques: The style is known for highly saturated tones, strong black outlines.

Mothers Love

This was my most challenging project so far but possibly the most rewarding. More Pop Art coming soon. Possibly the painting that has motivated me the most to have Pop Art as one of my main collections to work on.

I love the use of bright colours to help put a smile on the viewers face.

Kraka the kākā

First piece of Kiwiana Pop Art finished ready to be vanished then framed.

The kākā (Nestor meridionalis) is a large, highly intelligent forest parrot endemic to New Zealand, celebrated for its boisterous, playful nature and distinctive, raucous calls. Belonging to the ancient Nestor genus, it is a close relative of the alpine kea and a resident of mid-to-high forest canopies across New Zealand's main and offshore islands.

Acrylic paint on Canvas Board 405mm x 305mm will be framed in a white frame with white mat board.

Black Panther in Gold

The realisation of my 3am concept about three weeks ago. The photo does not do it justice but at least you get to see what I have been working to. Another very unique Pop art painting.

‘Black Panther in Gold’

One of my most rewarding pieces as it has taken me some time to get the big cats body just right.

In the animal kingdom, a black panther is not a distinct species. It is an umbrella term used to describe any large wild cat with a gene mutation causing melanism, which results in a dark black coat. In Africa Leopards can become Black Panthers and in South America Jaguars are also found.

Acrylic paint on gold canvas and framed in a gold frame 230 mm x 230 mm

A perfect piece of original art to brighten a small space in a home.

Built for speed

The cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is a large feline native to Africa and central Iran. Renowned as the fastest land animal on Earth, it is a marvel of evolutionary engineering, capable of reaching blistering speeds between 93 and 112 km/h (58–70 mph) in just three seconds. Unlike most big cats, cheetahs cannot roar; instead, they communicate through a unique repertoire of purrs, chirps, and growls.

Tricky time trying a number of paint combinations with this one. Have settled with this golden look.
